January-Kids Sewing Class Project

During our January Kids class we will be making this 16 x 16 inch Log Cabin Pillow.

The class is $20. This includes a snack, class instruction, use of sewing machine and project. 

If you have a second child in class his/her cost is $10.

Primitive Wall Quilt Kits

Here is a Primitive Wall Quilt I just finished. I have 3 Kits available for purchase if you are interested. The cost is $25 which includes all material for the quilt top and the applique pieces are precut so it goes together very quickly and easy.You can move the blocks around along with the applique pieces to meet your own taste. I added a few buttons as well but you could certainly put your own spin and add other embellishments.

The "Old" and the "New" come together...

This is a project I finished over the Christmas holiday break. My Uncle gave me some Flower Quilt blocks that my Grandmother had hand-pieced (he figured 60 years ago). I love antique quilts so I was very excited to receive the blocks and anxious to begin creating "something" with them.
Well...they were kind of wadded up in a plastic bag, very stained and definitely not "square." However, after washing, ironing and trimming I was excited to see the impressive blocks that Grandma Bauman must have spent hours and hours sewing.
I added some reproduction 1930s fabric (My favorite) for 9-patch blocks, the background and the border then quilted it on my Longarm Quilting Machine and this was the finished product!

It is now proudly hanging in my Quilting Studio.

December's Kids Class

December's Kids Class

We've had a couple new students this month so I've opened a 3rd class which is being held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 4:15-6:15--the dates are listed on the right side of my blog. Our first Thursday class had 3 students and went very well.
This month they made stockings and cut out a tree ornament with my new acuquilt cutter then sewed it together with a ribbon.

Decembers "Tuesday Chocolate & Stitches" Night

Jackie & Kelly both completed their December Calendar Wall Quilt and I quilted it for them on my longarm quilting machine.

Nice job ladies--can't wait to see how your January Quilt turns out!

December Kids Sewing Class--Group 1

Today the kids finished a stocking and a couple tree ornaments. They all did a great job. When they finished they filled their stocking with treats and snacked on some Christmas cookies.

Additional Kids Sewing Class available...

Starting December 12th I will be offering  Kids Class on the second Thursday of each month from 4:15-6:15. Snack will be included.
I've had several new students sign up so I thought I would open a class during the week for an additional option for those that find it difficult to give up a Saturday morning.

December Kids Class Project

This is the December project. There will be a couple different color options for the kids to choose from.

Project fee is $5.00
Class instruction fee is $10   (2nd child in family does not pay this fee)
Machine rental $5.00

Evening of sewing...

Jackie & Kelly came to the studio for a "Girls Night Out". They both worked on their December "Calendar Quilt". This is Jackie's second Quilting project and Kelly is a "newbie". Both did an amazing job.

November's Kids Sewing Class (Group #2)
