Christmas Gift Workshop--December 6th 9-1:00
Christmas Gift Workshops- December 6th!
Do you need an inexpensive handmade Christmas gift for a special person in your life, teacher gift, office exchange? Come down to my Quilting Studio any time between 9-1:00 to make a gift that will take less than 30 minutes-please reserve a time-slot as I only have room for 8 at a time. Projects that will be available are Infinity Scarves, Mug Rugs, Zippered Pouch Bags, Set of 4 Coasters or small table topper/place mat--the cost is only $8.50 for each project--machines are provided along with some Christmas Treats.

November's Kids Class- Section 1
Here is a great group of Kids that came to the Studio today for sewing class. They made a notebook/ipad Keeper. Twelve more kids will be visiting the Studio this month for this class.

A Bi-Fold Notebook Keeper which includes the notepad and pen.
Class cost is $20 this includes instruction, use of machine, project material, and snack.
Dates: Saturday, November 8th 9-11; 11:30-1:30 & 2-4
Tuesday, November 11th 4:15-6:15
New TEEN Class Tuesday, November 8th 5-7

An Afternoon with Kathy Brown
I had the opportunity yesterday in Amish Country to spend the afternoon with Kathy Brown, "The Teacher's Pet". I love her Books & Patterns and she is so delightful to chat with as she answered the many questions that I threw her way. She shared some of her expertise and helped me with my hand stitching on this adorable "Wee Woolies" Project. I will soon be carrying her patterns & KITS to make them at my on-line Quilt Shop

An Hour With Mary Fons
Shipshewana Quilt Festival Day 1-
Today I spent a wonderful hour watching/listening to Mary Fons as she talked about her quilting journey so far, how she learned to quilt on national television, how "Quilts are Relevant" now as much as they ever have been--you can't wrap a new baby in an ipad but you can a quilt".
She made us laugh and shed a few tears and she shared her personal story of the sickness that almost took her life and that she still struggles with today. Her passion is teaching "Newbie" quilters through Co-Hosting Fons & Porter, Quilty Magazine, Quilty show on the internet and soon will be hosting Webinars.
Mary is such an inspiration to me, as I too have that same passion--the passion of teaching others.
Quilting is a lost art that is coming-back and gaining momentum. As Mary travels the country teaching, lecturing and moving the quilting world forward by social media and television I'm wondering....how can I, a small town elementary teacher have an impact on others by sharing my love and passion for quilting...spreading the excitement, motivating and teaching others an art that has been lost for a while but is beginning to gain momentum...I guess I take it one step at a time and see what HE has planned for me.
Stay tuned and I will share Day 2 tomorrow.
